Bahamas culture, people food and festivals
The Bahamas has a distinctive culture which has evolved over generations, from a mixture of mostly African, combined with some British colonial and American influences, to a unique and colourful style of Bahamian self-expression. Bahamians are best described as an easy-going, friendly and hospitable people.
English is the official language and is widely spoken. Creole is used among Haitian immigrants. Bahamas are known for being friendly, outgoing and informal. However they also maintain a sense of decorum and are very polite.
Bahamian Cuisine refers to the foods and beverages of the Bahamas. It includes seafood such as fish, shellfish, lobster, crab, and conch, as well as tropical fruits, rice, peas, pigeon peas, potatoes, and pork.
The Atlantis Paradise Island is a resort and waterpark located on Paradise Island, the Bahamas. Officially opened in 1998, the resort was created by South African hotel magnate Sol Kerzner and Kerzner International Limited.
